Statement

Starting at the Manchester School of Architecture would be of the greatest value for me, to get the chance to move abroad, to focus on my studies at a school where I can be inspired and get a great education. I have always reached towards getting a great diploma and education and I am sure that The Manchester school of Architecture would be the best place for that.
Since I moved to Stockholm I have developed my interest in Architecture in many ways. Some months ago I visited Markuskyrkan here in Stockholm to study its architecture and to explore its materiality, and I was truly amazed by the church. It appeared like a brown fortress surrounded by birch trees; the small path leading up to the main building and the small courtyard with the mirror fountain was something I had not experienced in Swedish architecture before. It made me think of houses in south Europe but still I knew I was just 15 minutes from the central of Stockholm.
As I stepped inside the church the first thing that I noticed was the darkness, but also that the atmosphere still felt cosy and welcoming. The yellow light from the lamps together with the wooden benches and organ, all together with the brown bricks made the atmosphere feel warm. Only some small windows welcomed the white cold light from outside.
Sigurd Lewerents, who was the Architect behind Markuskyrkan is one Swedish architect I am found of. One more Architect I like is Lina Bo Bardi. The fact that she was an architect who believed in equality and social rights and mixed her beliefs together with architecture in a great way. That she has had a great impact on the architectural history as an artist, politican and a woman. She is inspiring as I would like to make a mark and to leave something behind just as Lina Bo Bardi has done.

Someday I wish to visit South America and then I would like to visit her SESC Pompeia Complex in Sao Paulo. I Would like to experience Bo Bardis work and to see her vision of this Complex in real life, exploring the interesting brutal but delicate architecture, with its outside bridges, inside pond and other details. Experiencing the complex as it it is to be used; as an complex where everyone is welcomed to be entertained and spend time. I would like to play sports in the halls protected from the sun, watch performances in the theatre and to blend together with the people of Sao Paolo.
